Jute is a crop of the humid tropical monsoon climate. Jute growth is favored by humid and warm to hot weather. The crop is a short day length plant.

  • Jute can be grown in areas where minimum temperature remains 15°C and maximum temperature 43°C with Relative Humidity 60%.
  • A well distributed annual rainfall of 1000-1500 mm with bright sunlight is conducive for its growth.
  • A temperature of 18-35°C with Relative Humidity more than 80% is the best for its growth.
  • The crop cannot withstand water logging at seedling stage.
  • At  high temperature ( 320C) the crop height as well as basal diameter increases.
